About the event

Join Sarah Lucas and Mary Beth Reid for a journey on the farm, learning about edible wild plants, pollinator habitat and the role of the master foragers - honeybees - in our ecosystem. We will have our observational honeybee hive on display and honey available for sale. The walk will last about 90 minutes and focus on the magic of common plants used by both human and bee foragers in our area. We will learn how to find, identify, and responsibly harvest wild edibles, as well as the importance of honeybees today.

Instructors:

Grounded in a philosophy of environmental and agricultural ethics, Sarah Lucas is a farmer at HVH, educator and trained forager.

Mary Beth Reid is a master beekeeper, and watches over our farm hives in addition to her own apiary in Millerton, NY.
