About the event
Our local landscape is rich with dye plants and we invite you to dive into the essence of flowers in this multi sensory workshop.
Participants will create vibrant natural dyes for both culinary and textile coloring, and learn why flowers are so appealing to both pollinators and people.
We'll begin the afternoon identifying wildflowers and plants in the field. Along the way, we'll visit our farm apiary for a lesson in pollination, why flowers exist and their seductive dance with pollinators. We'll then gather dye plants from the gardens and fields to take back with us to experiment. Participants will learn the basics of making a dye vat and explore an incredible palette of natural color.
At the end of the day, we will share a meal using flowers as ingredients and inspiration.
Participants will take home recipes and natural dye samples. Please dress for outdoor activity: walking shoes, sun hats, and sunscreen!
