About the event
A lot of farmers talk about "rotational grazing" but what does it mean? Why is it an important part of a sustainable approach to land management? How do you get started?
If you've wondered any of those things, this is a great introductory class for you. During this 1.5 hour course, our apprentices from past and present will speak to the fundamentals of rotational grazing and the livestock management techniques we utilize here on the farm. Our thirty cattle are rotated across nearly 60 acres of pasture, moving to new grass almost daily. Primarily comprised of Murray Grey cattle, our herd also includes some Angus, Scottish Highlands, and one lone Holstein steer.
This class will be held outside and include walking through pastures and visiting with our cows. Please come dressed for the farm and weather. For your comfort, we recommend long pants, closed-toed shoes you don't mind getting dirty, and a hat if there is sun in the forecast.
