MAX SPURLIN

Crops Manager

Max has been farming since 2015 and joined us at the beginning of 2024 as our Crops Lead. He manages the farm's vegetable operation and uses his passion for regenerative farming practices to grow healthy, sustainable produce. After realizing that the regular college path wasn’t going to work for him, he took his love for the outdoors to a nearby organic vegetable farm in his home state of Michigan. He attended the Organic Farmer Training Program at Michigan State University. Farming has taken him from a small farm in Western Michigan to a farm-to-table restaurant operation in Massachusetts and lastly helping start up a one-acre market garden outside Nashville, Tennessee. He is very excited to now call the Harlem Valley his home.

On A Personal Note:

If I am not on the farm, elbow-deep in trellising tomatoes, you’ll most likely find me playing hockey, watching hockey, reading about hockey, or just anything to do with hockey. I grew up as the youngest of five boys and spent most of my time either running around outside or reading. I currently live in Wingdale with my partner, and our dog and cat. If we aren’t home hosting or entertaining then there is a good chance we are getting lost among the stacks at a used bookstore.
