About the event
Wild foods are all around us. Step into Spring and make new connections with the plants and mushrooms in your backyard, pastures and woods.Â
Alanna will cover the basics of plant ID - a key skill for safe and effective wild food foraging. Using identification guides and your five senses, you will learn how to safely identify, harvest and prepare a variety of wild edible and medicinal foods that grow in the Harlem Valley.Â
This program may include walking through pastures, uneven terrain, tall grass and hiking steep trails. Please come dressed for the farm and weather. For your comfort we recommend long pants and closed-toed shoes that will carry you comfortably over a variety of terrain. A small notebook and pen is also encouraged to record notes from the field. No prior experience required.
**This walk will be followed by a Spring Forage Farm Dinner, built out of wild food foraged on our farm. You can register for the dinner by visiting the 'Dinner' page above.Â
