About the event
Join us for the first big planting of the season. In continuation of our efforts to protect our wetlands and watershed, and establish habitat, we'll be planting indigenous trees and shrubs, including Red Twig Dogwood and Willow, along the Tenmile River and around the ponds at Harlem Valley Homestead. We’ve planted over 1000 trees on the farm so far, and this is a chance to plant more.
We will learn tree-planting basics and have time to discuss efforts to protect the local ecology. Bring a sack lunch for a noon-time picnic, and once all the trees are in the ground, we will offer a farm tour, concluding with hot coffee and cookies at the farmhouse as a thank you for joining us.
As a reminder, we'll be outside throughout the day and observing social distancing during our time together. Please bring a mask, and clothes and shoes suitable for the field.
