Harlem Valley Homestead is an education-focused diversified vegetable, flower and livestock farm with a growing culinary program on 250 acres in Wingdale NY. Our culinary program currently offers farm lunch and both onsite and offsite catering. We host four farm dinners each season and preserve the harvest for our pantry and value- added products. Our farm maintains 50 acres in pasture and one acre in vegetable production. We currently have a herd of beef cattle, a flock of layer chickens, a small orchard, a small herb and flower garden and a modest apiary. We are not certified, though we adhere to organic practices. We sell at local farmer’s markets and local restaurants and grow for on-site and offsite catering events and workshops for the local community.
We have plans to grow and expand both the culinary program and the farm this year. Primarily, we will be significantly expanding our offsite catering operation and prepared food offerings. We are also continuing to construct the DNA for this project and designing systems for everything from ordering to waste that will continue to evolve with the project. This year, the farm is scaling up vegetable and flower production, growing the apiary, adding sheep to pasture rotations, pigs to the woods, an herb garden, a hop yard, and mushroom cultivation. Harlem Valley Homestead is in a dynamic phase of growth as we establish the foundation of our programs and work towards our future of becoming a rural agrarian learning center.
